Privacy policy
TL;DR: We collect only what's needed to reply to your charter enquiry, pass it to a charter brokerage you've agreed to, and understand how the site is used. We don't sell your personal information.
What we collect
- Enquiry details you type into the form: name, email, phone (optional), whether you're planning for someone else, destination, travel month, length, number of guests, yacht preference, budget range, notes, and how you found us. We also note which page of our site you came from, and any campaign tag in the link you followed.
- Email subscription if you request the Charter Cost Brief: your first name and email, used to send the brief and occasional charter guides. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe.
- Usage data through Google Analytics 4: pages viewed, approximate location, device type, and how you arrived. Analytics cookies are set only as allowed by your cookie choices.
- Referral tracking: the brokerages we refer to may set a cookie so that a booking can be credited to Vessel Vista. See our affiliate disclosure.
How it's used and shared
- We read every enquiry first and reply by email. We send it to a charter brokerage only after you've agreed, by replying to us, to a specific firm we name, and we share only what that firm needs to suggest yachts. From that point, the brokerage's own privacy policy also applies.
- Enquiries are stored in a database in our Cloudflare account, so we can follow up and keep records of referrals. Contact details and notes are encrypted. When you send the form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're not an automated visitor.
- We use service providers (website hosting, form processing, email, analytics) that handle data on our behalf.
- We don't sell or rent personal information. An enquiry is shared with a charter firm only at your direction, after you've agreed to that firm by name.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete your information at any time by replying to any email we've sent you, quoting your reference. If your enquiry has been passed to a brokerage, we'll tell you how to contact them too.
Retention
An enquiry that isn't passed to a brokerage is deleted 12 months after we last hear from you. One that's passed on but doesn't lead to a booking is deleted after 24 months. If you book, your contact details and notes are removed 12 months after the charter; the referral and commission record, with no contact details, is kept for 7 years for tax purposes.
Changes
We'll update this page if our practices change and note the date above.
