Private yacht charter Miami
TL;DR: A private yacht charter in Miami is usually booked by the hour: about $3,000 to $5,500 for four hours on a 50 to 70 foot yacht, and $9,500 or more for a full day on 75 to 100 feet. For a week, a crewed motor yacht can run from Miami to Bimini, the Berry Islands or the Florida Keys.

Vessel Vista is an independent charter guide. We send enquiries to established charter brokerages, and we may earn a referral fee if you book. It doesn't change your price. How this works.
Day charter prices by yacht size
| Yacht | Typical guests | 4 hours | 8 hours |
|---|---|---|---|
| 38–48 ft sport yacht | 2–6 | $1,700–$2,800 | $2,800–$4,500 |
| 50–70 ft motor yacht | 6–13 | $3,000–$5,500 | About 1.7× the 4-hour rate |
| 75–100 ft motor yacht | up to 13 | $5,500–$9,700+ | $9,500–$15,000+ |
| 100 ft+ superyacht | up to 13 | Usually 8-hour minimum | $9,700–$15,000+ |
Many operators quote "from" prices that leave out fuel, tax and gratuity. Ask for the all-in number. Gratuity is 10–20% of the charter fee, like a restaurant tip: $500 is standard on a $5,000 day, $1,000 for exceptional service. On tax: Florida treats a charter where the captain and crew run the boat as a service that is generally exempt from sales tax (Florida Rule 12A-1.071(15)), while a bareboat rental is taxed at 6% plus 1% in Miami-Dade. Ask how your quote treats it.
Where a Miami day charter goes
- Biscayne Bay and Star Island: the waterfront homes along the MacArthur Causeway, then anchor for lunch.
- Haulover sandbar: north of Bal Harbour. Busy at weekends, quieter midweek.
- Nixon sandbar, Key Biscayne: shallow, clear water south of the city, a calmer swim stop.
- Stiltsville: the stilt houses in Biscayne National Park, a longer run on a full-day charter.
Most charters leave from Miami Beach Marina, Bayside or the marinas around Brickell and Coconut Grove.
A week from Miami
A crewed motor yacht can turn a Miami start into a full week. The two common routes:
- Bahamas: Bimini is about 50 nautical miles east, then on to the Berry Islands or Nassau and the Exumas. The Gulf Stream crossing depends on weather, so allow a flexible first day. See Bimini yacht charter.
- Florida Keys: Key Largo, Islamorada and on toward Key West, with no border crossing.
| Yacht | Charter fee per week (indicative) |
|---|---|
| Motor yacht, 70–90 ft | $40,000–$80,000 plus APA |
| Motor yacht, 90–120 ft | $80,000–$180,000 plus APA |
| Superyacht, 120 ft+ | $180,000 to $1,000,000+ plus APA |
On a weekly charter, APA (usually 25–35% of the fee) covers fuel, food, drinks and dockage. Full breakdown: the line-by-line charter cost guide.
What changes the price
- Day of the week: Saturdays and holiday weekends cost more and book first.
- Season: winter, spring break and Miami Art Week in December are the busiest periods.
- Guest count: more than six paying guests requires a Coast Guard-inspected vessel, which limits choice.
- Extras: catering, a jet ski or a second tender add to the bill.
Questions to ask the operator
- Is the price all-in, or are fuel, tax and gratuity extra?
- Is the yacht licensed for our number of guests?
- What's the weather policy: refund, reschedule or credit?
- Can we bring our own food and drinks, or is catering required?
Common questions
How much is a private yacht charter in Miami?
A four-hour charter usually costs about $1,700 to $2,800 on a 38 to 48 foot yacht, $3,000 to $5,500 on 50 to 70 feet, and $5,500 to $9,700 or more on 75 to 100 feet. A full eight-hour day on a 75 to 100 foot yacht is about $9,500 to $15,000. Add a crew gratuity of 10 to 20 percent: 10 is standard, 20 is for exceptional service.
How many guests can a Miami yacht charter take?
Most private day charters take up to 12 or 13 guests. Larger groups need a yacht certified by the US Coast Guard for more passengers, which narrows the choice.
Can I charter a yacht from Miami to the Bahamas?
Yes, on a multi-day crewed charter. Bimini is about 50 nautical miles east of Miami. The crossing depends on Gulf Stream weather, and guests need passports and Bahamas entry.
